As one of Calgary’s Modern Wedding Photographers I consistently take inspiration from Pinterest and fashion magazines to stay inspired and provide my clients with beautiful timeless images they can cherish for a lifetime.

I met A&R from a mutual friend and I would say we hit it off right away. We were interested in the same sort of things, we were both stylish couples;), and the type of images they had in mind is what I could deliver for them. So to say the least we were all on the same page.

I had the pleasure of capturing these two’s wedding on June 30th 2015. I arrived at the brides beautiful home in aspen at around 11 to start photographing their day. Their home is a gorgeous townhouse built by Avi Urban, which is the builder that also built our place. I loved the way they decorated their place in a really modern, rustic style. A is an art director at Ad Maki so her good taste definitely can be attributed to being a designer. I hung out with the girls for the morning until it was time for A to put the dress on. When I finished there I drove over to the guys house which wasn’t far away and snapped some pics of the guys before the big reveal. A few days prior me and A took boudoir photos for R’s wedding gift and I was able to capture the moment of him opening the parcel. I laughed to the guys and said that they couldn’t be around for this as it was for R’s eyes only. So they just hung out a little farther away while R’s eyes just lit up with satisfaction. hehe

Once the ladies arrived it was time to get R in a position standing backwards to the opening of the backyard. A came down the stone steps and tapped him on the shoulder, I always love the first look because it gives me butterflies. It’s so beautiful and the look of pure love and joy takes over both the bride and grooms face. It also takes me back to my wedding day where I had goosebumps all over and tears in my eyes when I saw my husband looking dapper, staring back at me. I am getting emotional just thinking about it, someone hand me a tissue geez. Anyway A is so cute because she just starts to laugh and R just can’t take his eyes off her, just total and utter love between these two.

We left right after to take some photos at Griffith Woods, before arriving for the ceremony at The Lake House which is an absolutely stunning venue to have a wedding by the way. If you have a chance to go and take a look do it! Its located right on the Lake in Bonavista and there are so many windows which made for awesome natural light. I didn’t have to use a flash at all because the light was so great there.  The photos in Griffith Woods turned out amazing. The weather was overcast so the photos turned out soft and muted. My favourites were the ones we took in the heavy wooded area, the emotion I was able to capture there made for some really creative snaps. Luckily we made it back just in time as storm clouds were rolling in and darkening up the sky.

Once the ceremony wrapped up we had some quick speeches before dinner was on the way. The food was so good. We had multiple courses and each one was delicious. I had the tenderloin and it was juicy and flavourful, which is always tough with beef, getting it right can be tricky business. But everything turned out lovely.

The speeches and first dance were after that. The dance between A&R was right out of a fairytale, the way A’s dress twirled around made her look like a Disney princess:)

I couldn’t be happier with the results of their wedding and am so glad to have worked with A&R, they have been so down to earth and relaxed the whole time which made my work so much easier. Thank you both once again and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and bliss, I cannot wait to stay in touch and see your family grow. XOXO
